Mr. David Anschutz
David Anschutz developed a love for both music and science from an early age. Graduating from Ruskin High School, he continued his education at Harvard College, where he accompanied the Harvard Glee Club, while earning an A.B. degree in Physical Sciences. Upon returning to Kansas City, David made the decision to pursue private individual teaching, spending his next 30 years teaching organ and piano. After marrying Susan Crane, the love of his life, in 1995, David moved his teaching into their home studio in Lee’s Summit, MO. In 1997, with their oldest daughter Sydne (1996) in tow and later, second daughter, Paige (1999), the couple opened a home-based travel agency aimed at escorting astronomers to total solar eclipses. Since 2016, David has been an active Lee’s Summit School District substitute teacher and science tutor, while continuing to accompany both vocalists and instrumentalists at MSHSAA District and State music contests. From 1979 to 2017, David was the organist/accompanist at Red Bridge United Methodist Church in South Kansas City. He is currently the organist/accompanist at First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, and he is excited to be accompanying the Lee’s Summit North High School choirs for his second year.
